What you get

This is what your feedback looks like.

Example: Stiftelsen Lesehjelp

  1. 1

    What the donor sees

The expected path through the letter in eight seconds, drawn right on your pages.

  2. 2

    The core

Problem, solution and where the money goes: clear, unclear or missing.

  3. 3

    You and we

Every you-word and we-word is counted. Does the letter talk about the donor, or about you?

  4. 4

    The one change

Before and after, ready to paste.

The skimmer

Donors don't read. They skim.

DonorEye shows what a skimmer will probably take in during eight seconds, and the path the eye is expected to take through the letter: envelope, headline, picture, P.S. It is an expectation, not measured eye tracking. Then you know what is likely to get read, before the donor decides.

Problem. Solution. Where the money goes.

  • Problem.Clear
  • Solution.Unclear
  • Where the money goes.Missing

Example from an assessment

A donor says yes when she sees what's wrong, what you do about it, and where her money goes. If one of the three is missing, the letter can't score high, however well it's written.

The red pen test

See the letter through the donor's eyes.

Every “you” and every “we” is counted and marked in the text. Does the letter talk about the donor, or about you? The numbers are counted in code and the quotes are checked against the letter, so nothing is made up.

The one change

The one change that lifts most.

DonorEye points out what matters most and shows how it could be written: before and after, ready to paste.

Before

«We at the Reading Help Foundation have worked on literacy for 25 years.»

After

«With £30, you give Sara a reading buddy for ten weeks.»

From “we” to “you”, and from time served to effect.

You set the pace

The more DonorEye knows, the better the feedback.

The first assessment needs only the letter. Tell us about the organisation, the donors, the goal and earlier letters whenever you like. The score is a wake-up call, and you can disagree with any finding.

Questions and answers

What people ask

What is DonorEye?

DonorEye gives you feedback on fundraising letters and other direct mail before you send them. You upload your draft and an AI reads it the way a donor would: what the donor notices first, what is missing, and the one change that would lift the letter most.

Why not just ask an AI yourself?

A general AI answers from anything and gives you a new answer every time. DonorEye is built on a fundraising knowledge base that has been approved point by point. It assesses your letter against the same criteria every time, counts the numbers in code instead of guessing, and shows which knowledge each finding is based on. It has been tested with users and is easy to use. A general AI can answer anything, but it will not give you this.

How does it work?

Upload your appeal as a PDF or image and enter your email address. We send a six-digit code, and once you enter it the review starts. It takes about two minutes. There is no account to set up and no password.

What do I get in the review?

You see what a skimmer is likely to take in within eight seconds, whether the letter has a problem, a solution and a path for the money, and how often it says “you” and “we”. Finally you get the one change that helps most, with a suggested rewrite: before and after.

Is this measured eye tracking?

No. The expected path of the eye through the letter is an estimate, not measured eye tracking. The numbers in the review are counted in code and the quotes are checked against your letter, so nothing is made up.

Is my letter safe?

What you upload is stored encrypted and is never used to train AI models. The file stays in your browser until your email address is confirmed. If you can, upload a sample without names and addresses.

What does it cost?

The first review is free. All you need is an email address.

Which languages does it support?

DonorEye works in Norwegian, English, German and Spanish. You choose the language of the interface, the language of the review and the language your letter is written in.

Do I have to follow the advice?

No. The score is a wake-up call, not a verdict, and you can disagree with any finding. The more you tell DonorEye about your organisation, your donors and your goal, the better the feedback gets.
